Ambassador Hotel Tower II

Structural engineering for a Kansas City 9-story expansion tower adjacent to the existing hotel that opened in 2012 after an extensive renovation of the historical 1920’s bank building.  The structure consists of straight shaft drilled pier foundations supporting a second floor cast-in-place concrete podium over garage parking.  Levels three through nine utilize cold formed metal stud bearing walls with 4 ½” thick slab on composite metal deck floors.  Concrete stair and elevator cores resist lateral loads.  The roof is steel framed with standard steel shapes, K series joists, and metal deck over the 9th floor ballroom spaces.
